Seminars

I regularly teach a variety of different seminars, which can be suitable for churches, or
discipleship or mission training programmes. The seminar subjects include:

Historical Overview of the Old Testament
describing God’s overall plan of salvation, a summary of the history of Israel, together with some O.T. theology and archaeology, showing where many of the books fit, including the message of most of the prophets. This also includes a brief summary of inter-testamental history.

Historical Overview of the New Testament
describing the ministry of Jesus, the growth of the church, Paul’s missionary journeys, and the message of each of his letters. This also includes a summary of the historical events in Israel and the Roman Empire up to the end of the first century and the setting for John’s writings.

Life-changing Bible study
An exciting interactive study of Philemon (or another short book) to show the power of inductive Bible study to open up the Scriptures.

How to understand of the difficult bits of the Old Testament
particularly the law of Moses and the prophets, and how they can be applied today.

Making sense of the Book of Revelation
An introduction to this difficult book, focussing on how to understand apocalyptic literature, the historical background, the major themes of the book and its message today.

How to prepare a message
Practical teaching on how to study a passage of the Bible in depth and prepare a sermon from it. This also includes how to structure the message, choose relevant illustrations, and bring practical application, as well as some help in presentation.

These can be adapted for varying lengths of teaching time, and for different circumstances. Please use the Contact Julian link for further information.
